Internship again

Life is busy since the beginning of the semester. I just went to the newly-designed homepage of the T/MC. It looks better than the previous one. I like the design very much. Also, I registered again in order to login successfully.

I prepare my honor project and finding jobs. On the other hand, I participate in an internship program organized by my department. It is one of the requirements and assessment criteria of the course. I serve as an part-time intern in an environmental protection organization from September to November. My job duty is to conduct a research related to the side- effects of reclamation and use the result to prepare one set of exhibition boards for the organization to display in primary and secondary schools.

I will keep you all posted.

Thanks for registering at the new T/MC site. As you intern at other organizations, I hope you'll use your blog to tell what they do, and provide web links to connect people who read your blog with this organization. I also encourage you to post an update in the discussion forum of the T/MC site and keep inviting people from Asia who are interested in volunteerism, tutoring and mentoring, to log into the T/MC site to be connected.

Good luck with your projects. Dan Bassill

Hi Michael,

I want to share some good news. On Nov. 15 the Chicago Sun Times donated $2 million to the Lend A Hand Program at the Chicago Bar Association. This money will be distributed as grants, to tutor/mentor programs in Chicago over the next 3-5 years. Cabrini Connections will be a recipient. So will nearly 20 others.

This donation is the result of 13 years of support provided by the Tutor/Mentor Connection to the Lend A Hand Program. It's a result we hope to see duplicated in other industries, in big cities around the world.

I hope you'll share this news with people in Hong Kong who might embrace this idea as a way to help youth organizations grow throughout the world.

Hi Michael, another student, named John Jenkins, has started a tutor/mentor blog. The address is http://johnjenkins2315.blogspot.com/

I hope you'll introduce yourself on his blog, and that the two of you will begin networking back and forth, via your blogs in a way that others will see what you're doing and duplicate your efforts.

Enjoy the Holidays! Dan

Hello, Michael. I am Paul and also from Hong Kong Baptist University.

I am the new intern in T/MC.
I have posted a reply after the topic named "Hong Kong Student interns with T/MC" in the online forum of T/MC to introduce myself.

Mr. Bassill has tried hard to introduce the concept of what we are doing about. By reading your blog, I have gained some more understanding on it. I can feel that you did well during the 7 weeks you spent in TM/C. You did learn and contribute something. As a junior, I am quite inspired by that. So thanks for establishing the blog here. We can have some talk online if we get a chance.

Paul
